Founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah has justified why men of God must have bodyguards.

He explained that, pastors by their work are exposed to a lot of dangers thus need physical protection everywhere they go.

Prophet Owusu Bempah was replying to critics who argue vehemently against men of God surrounding themselves with heavily built men known in local parlance as machomen.

They maintained that, as representatives of God on earth, they must not fear any mortal on earth.

But in a riposte, Rev Owusu Bempah on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday said such comments are borne out of ignorance.

He explained that, Jesus Christ whom they look up to, when he was alive was surrounded by bodyguards [12 disciples] who were armed to protect him from danger.

The outspoken prophet noted that, Jesus’ 12 disciples who followed him everywhere were fully armed.

“Peter took a sword and cut-off somebody’s ear and Jesus told him to sheath his sword meaning that as they were following Jesus they were armed” he observed.

Citing himself as an example, Rev. Owusu Bempah said his bodyguards have foiled several attempts on his life especially during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

He said as followers of Christ, the pastors are just taking a cue from what Jesus did by protecting themselves both physically and spiritually.
