Throwback on the Atomic gas explosion

The skies turned red as the thick smoke from the explosion may be seen miles away. the first explosive sound sent people trembling on the ground. Human and vehicular activities came to a standstill as people wondered if the world was coming to an end.

The horrific scene on the day of the Atomic junction gas explosion will forever linger on the minds of the many.

On october 7, 2017, the country recorded another disaster that claimed lives and properties.

Residents, motorists and traders at Atomic junction were greatly affected by the explosion from Mansco filling station.

A report by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) stated that, “The explosion was due to the non-adherence to standard safety procedures leading to fuel leakage due to a burst hoarse during the course of discharge. The leaked fuel was suspected to have come into contact with a naked flame at the filling station at around 7pm on the fateful day.”
